Board of Cemetery Commissioners Town of Eastham--Minutes of Meeting July 14, 2015

Meeting opened at 10:00 A.M. at the Cove Cemetery on County Rd.

Present: Thurston,(clerk) Smith, Carlson,(visitor-interested party)

Minutes of meeting of June 9, 2015 were read and approved (2-0)

The Board recognized the service rendered by its former chairman, Mr. Carlson who has left the Board because of term limitations. Mr. Carlson has led the Board for twelve years bringing many improvements to the operation of the Board and working tirelessly to maintain the two cemeteries. The Board unanimously offered its sincere thanks to him.       ยท

Under the terms of the law creating the Cemetery Commission, the Board is authorized to secure the services of others to help in maintaining both cemeteries. Through the donation from an anonymous donor, the Board is able to secure the services of a temporary Superintendent of Cemeteries for the sum of one
dollar.         Mr Robert Carlson, having been highly recommended,was appointed to serve at the pleasure of the Board for 2015-16. The duties of the Superintendent were outlined in detail and Mr. Carlson accepted the position.

The Board proceeded to a detail inspection of Cove Cemetery, noting the location and condition of several of t e stones and markers.    Mr. Carlson has planted a beautiful plot of marigolds at the entrance. During the meeting, several persons came to visit and make records of stones.

The next meeting of the Board will be held at the small meeting room in the lower Town Hall at  10:00am on Tuesday, August 11, 2015.
